Why Re-Paint Body Corporate Unit Complexes

Many people believe the main reason we re-paint body corporate buildings is to protect them from the elements. However this is not necessarily true. Apart from sealing certain aspects, such as metal balustrade where we paint in order to deter rust, or ensure natural timber is kept moist through oiling or staining, the real reason we re-paint any building, is to enhance its visual appeal. The built environment and architecture in general plays a huge role in affecting people’s moods. So when it comes to the health and happiness of a body corporate community, a good looking and clean building plays an integral role.

EXTERIOR LIVING AREAS

A walk on a nature trail, or a weekend camping is a highly sort after activity, and “getting back to nature” is a term we read and hear all the time. This is because it is considered a healthy past-time and good for our happiness and wellbeing. When it comes to where we live, whether it is the colour of a building, the landscaping of the garden, even the day’s weather or the season we are in, so many factors affect our mood. The use of natural products such as stone and wood within a building can reproduce what we experience in the natural world. Neutral colour schemes, of whites, greys and creams, can ensure that the majority of people living within a body corporate community are kept happy. Not everyone loves, purple, or yellow, or red or blue, and these “colourful” colours can heavily influence one’s mood. These rules should also be incorporated when approaching a complex’s common (shared) areas. However, in saying that, a splash of colour here and there can be very effective in highlighting certain aspects of a building’s architecture.

INTERIOR DECORATING

When it comes to the interior of where we live, this is considered our true “living space.” It is personal and can be painted and decorated to suit our preferences. Using colour, light and textures, we decorate an environment which is created to make us relaxed and happy, It is this process that turns a built structure into a home. It is where we have family and friends over to entertain, to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, celebrate a birthday, or simply watch a movie. “Home is where the heart is” and a person’s “home is their castle” so the more planning, attention and effort put into painting a unit or home properly, the happier we and our families and friends will be. Repainting buildings is very important.

Great article, the building pictured is The Nouvelle, in Teneriffe. I’m on the committee and we engaged Rochele to paint the building. They came in with the best price and I believe they did a fantastic job. We went very bold and COMPLETELY changed the colour scheme from that of the original building. It was very scary as a committee, but I think the result paid dividends and the building has never looked better.
