As the state peak body for real estate professionals, the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) has today welcomed reassigned Ministers to the Palaszczuk Government Cabinet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella congratulated Meaghan Scanlon on her appointment as the Minister for Housing and Yvette D\u2019ath on her appointment as the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe welcome these appointments and renewed focus, and look forward to continuing to work in an effective and constructive fashion with both Ministers as Queensland faces significant challenges ahead,\u201d Ms Mercorella said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn particular, housing accessibility and affordability are complex and critical issues in our state that are increasingly demanding attention and action from all levels of Government \u2013 after all, these are matters impacting us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt also comes at a time when the REIQ is calling on the Queensland Government to reconsider its proposed second stage of rental law reforms, with potentially dire consequences for the health of the rental market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe REIQ will be writing to the Ministers to outline our positions and progress our ongoing work that\u2019s well underway on various working groups, plans, and legislative reviews and reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will take this as an opportunity to help navigate the complexities of the landscape, inform government policy, and ensure real estate\u2019s crucial contributions continue to be represented, heard and carefully considered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Mercorella also thanked the outgoing Ministers for their important contributions and close working relationship with the REIQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe thank Minister Leeanne Enoch for her hard work and passion in the portfolio over the past three years, and in particular her ability to work effectively across the entire sector,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMinister Enoch was instrumental in driving the establishment of the Housing Roundtable and subsequent Housing Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also thank Attorney, Shannon Fentiman for her pragmatism and drive in the portfolio especially in relation to the amended Property Law Bill and Mandatory CPD (continuing professional development) for the real estate profession.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
